Large walnut library XIX°

Solid walnut library of the second half of the nineteenth century 278cm high by 218cm wide. In two parts, it consists of a low cabinet (80cm high) with two doors containing a fir shelf adjustable in height thanks to the rack and pinion system, and a high part with two large glass doors containing five shelves (depth: 31cm, 195cm wide). 3.5cm thick, these solid doors close with a wolf's mouth molding. The upper shelves, 3cm thick, in fir are alèsed in molded walnut on the front and are also adjustable in height with the same system. This library, typical of french manufactures of the second half of the nineteenth century, takes up the aesthetic codes of older styles. Its renaissance-inspired sculptures, discreet but very present, make it luxurious and refined. The glazing of the original doors, made of blown glass, is of impressive dimensions: 75cm wide by 157cm high each, with inimitable reflections. Its huge glass doors decorated with spandrels break with the main straight lines of the entire piece of furniture. This library, topped with an important cornice, is as impressive in its dimensions (see photo with the chair) as it is modern. The whole is in blond walnut (darkenings and shelves in fir), in a very very beautiful condition. Traces of use and time. It has been completely cleaned and recred in our workshop, it is ready to take place in your interior. Rare model, large dimensions, but extremely well proportioned, which is all the difficulty of these large pieces of furniture!
