A flapping of wings in victorian england… two antique wedgwood plates with a printed blue-black decoration entitled "bullfinch" — the elegant bullfinch nestled in a lush plant setting. The attentive eye spots a curious apparition: a bright yellow butterfly resting there (yellow less visible on one of the two plates), discreet but deliberately hand-colored. An unexpected note, undoubtedly intentional, which adds mystery and a crazy charm to this series of plates produced between 1850 and 1870. Stamped bullfinch with an intaglio marking the intaglio marking "wedgwood" typical of the factory's production between 1830 and 1890. The quality of the paste, the fine printing, and the naturalistic decoration correspond well to wedgwood ironstone pieces intended for export. In good condition, very light patina of time, no chips, for lovers of vintage english ceramics. Diameter 25 cm.
