Vallauris handcrafted decorative wall plate with flower motif
Description
This pretty plate with floral decoration will be perfect to decorate a wall in accumulation with other plates, floral or not. It must date from the 50s or 60s and was intended as a wall decoration, because it has two holes in the back to make it easier to hang. It was made by hand, it is written underneath. It is made of terracotta with a pretty gray enamel, enhanced with brown and decorated with orange flowers in slight relief: the patterns were engraved with a knife before the first firing then covered with colored enamels before the firing of the enamel. It is a beautiful craft work both for the turning and for the enameling. Perhaps the work of a ceramist based in vallauris because I found similar plates (flower decoration) which were stamped vallauris. Another interesting detail, perhaps for a possible identification of the artist or to specify the dating, is that the mention "handmade" is in robert picault's favorite green color. Perhaps a creation of the callis workshop It is in perfect condition, no cracks, no chips, not even a chip. It measures 25 cm in diameter for a maximum height of 2.5 cm at the level of the slightly rising edge.
