Description
Set of two metal armchairs by the architects of the Centro Studi for Matteo Grassi in the 1960s. These seats with a refined design have a chromed metal tubular structure. The back and seat are upholstered in thick fawn leather. They are stitched with saddle stitch, a two-needle sewing technique that is very popular because it is very solid. Each back is stamped 'Matteo Grassi'. Note the presence of two metal hoops with screw threads under these armchairs. They allow, quickly and easily, to adjust and adjust the tension of the leather and therefore the firmness of the seat. Note that the latter seems to be suspended, thanks to the absence of vertical feet at the back. This design, in addition to giving an airy feel to these seats, also offers the advantage of providing flexibility: they adapt to the position and morphology of the user. With their original curves, these four Matteo Grassi armchairs brilliantly combine comfort and timeless design. They were originally commissioned by the company Brown Boverie & Cie for their French headquarters in Nanterre. ******** Period: 1960 Original condition with normal traces of age.
