Description
Armchair with wrought iron metal structure with double arch. Model from the 1850s created by peter cooper for the rw winfield & co. Factory in birmingham, a company specializing mainly in the manufacture of armchairs and beds in metal tubes for domestic and military use. It was exhibited for the first time at the great london exhibition in 1851 in hyde park. The metal structure has been completely stripped like the brass bronze bolts. The wooden slatted seat has been redone. The tobacco brown leather mattress is in very good condition. The chair is perfectly functional.
