Set of four MR10 chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Fasem edition, circa 1970. Tubular structure (chrome-plated steel tube in perfect condition) and very thick, high-quality black saddle-stitched leather. Two key-adjustable tensioners ensure perfect tension of the leather seat while steel supports hold the backrests in place (two important details that poor editions do not offer). Very good condition, very stable, unstitched steel, thick and patinated leather. Dimensions: height 84cm, seat height 45cm, width 49cm, depth 71cm. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) was a pioneering German-American architect known for his minimalist and modernist designs. He was a major figure in the Bauhaus movement and is famous for phrases such as "less is more" and "God is in the details". Mies van der Rohe's iconic buildings, such as the Barcelona Pavilion and the Seagram Building in New York, are characterized by clean lines, open spaces, and innovative use of materials such as steel and glass. His influence on modern architecture is profound, and his legacy continues to inspire architects and designers around the world. Director of the Bauhaus from 1930 to 1933 (Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Klee). An iconic figure in modernist architecture, he collaborated with several artists and influential figures throughout his career: Peter Behrens, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Lilly Reich, Philip Johnson, Serge Chermayeff, Herbert Greenwald... These collaborations played a crucial role in the evolution and diffusion of modernism in architecture.
