Plaster head, framed miniature portrait

Miniature plaster cast heads set in dark wooden frames. These are souvenirs from poland, replicas of the ceiling of wawel castle in krakow. Frames dated from the 50s and 60s. 10 heads are available, €45/piece dimensions of a frame: 11 X 12.6 X 5 cm the original sculptures were sculpted during the renaissance by sebastian tauerbzch around 1552 and placed on the ceiling of a room in the castle. There were originally 194, most of which were destroyed by austrian troops in the 19th century. The 30 heads which survived and are still visible within the castle.
