The Netherlands / 1970 / side table T18 / Peter Ghyczy / brass, glass / mid-century / Hollywood regency / vintage An iconic brass and glass side table designed by Peter Ghyczy in the early 1970s in the Netherlands. The sand cast base of this side table, in solid brass, features the Ghyczy logo. Typical for the sand-casting process are small irregularities that may exist, even in the polished surface. The table top is a 15mm thick cut glass plate. 
Novel interpretations of classic forms, imposing, high-grade materials and solid craftsmanship work together to give every piece a unique shine. The unique patina is part of the design.
 Born in Budapest, Peter Ghyczy started his career as an architect in Germany. In 1972 he founded Ghyczy + Co Design in Viersen, The Netherlands and presented his first furniture collection. It was based on casting techniques which he transferred from plastics to metal. He patented many of his developments, especially for his innovative method clamping glass and metal together. He used this technique for a new type of "frameless" table, which has often been copied and which he used as a basis for an entire product line. Ref. 24-0244
