Description
This antique handmade Shiraz rug was manufactured around 1850 in Persia. The rug is in traditional deeply brown and dark blue colors with a geometric, tribal pattern. This hand-knotted carpet is unique and the pattern is typical for nomads with patterns of simple geometric figures. Shiraz rugs were initially made to be used inside tribal tents which are often mobile and move from one place to another. It has a decorative kelims we the short sides to protect the staff against wear. The warp and weft are made of wool. This rug is tight and thin (approx. 200,000 knots per square meter). This piece is in original antique condition with scrapes and natural patina.
