Charles guilloux (paris, 1866 - lormes, 1946), "new bridge with the samaritaine", oil on canvas, signed and dated 1903 lower right, 33 x 44 cm. A modest employee of the national library, Charles Guilloux is a self-taught artist. From 1891, his works were successfully received at the exhibitions of the Society of Independent Artists, then, soon, at the impressionist and symbolist events at the Barc de Boutteville gallery. The city of Paris, with its emblematic monuments - here the Pont Neuf and the Samaritaine - inspired numerous paintings from the end of the 1890s. The Musée d'Orsay, in Paris, keeps in its collections a twilight painted in 1892 .
