Pair of Art Deco bookends - Gold Starry, 20th century

Modernist art-deco bookends in marble and gold starry gold plating, France 1950. Abstract sculptural shape, gold plated on black marble; the company name is written on the interior surface of the bases. Founded in 1912, Gold Starry was known for its fountain pens which were produced until the company closed in the 1980s. Marble base: 14 x 8 cm. Height: 12 cm. Very good condition, some minor nibbles in some corners, only visible upon close inspection. Weight 1,480 kg.
