Beautiful chinese porcelain plate with imari decoration. On this plate, the background is white, there is a blue outline, with blue and red floral decorations. Imari porcelain is actually a japanese porcelain production site on the island of kyushu in hizen province. One of the different styles of imari porcelain found here is the kirande style, also known as "golden brocade". It is recognized by the use of three specific colors (cobalt blue, saffron red and white) but also by a particular iconographic register (many floral motifs, animal elements and minerals). As japan was a closed country for three centuries between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries and its imari porcelain was highly prized, china adopted imari motifs for its european customers.
