Large rectangular travertine coffee table by Claude Berraldacci, France, 1990s.
Description
Large rectangular table of 160 cm in travertine with beveled edges on both lengths. The foot has its 2 largest sides grooved and the small sides smooth. Vintage furniture from the 90s in perfect condition. These tables come directly from the back of the workshop of the designer claude berraldacci, who designed it in the 90s. The brand was called "la pierre haute couture". The stone is the purest of what exists in travertine. It comes from the tivoli quarry near rome, from where the buildings of the vatican, the colosseum or the trevi fountain are extracted. The travertine from this region is very pure, with few veins and a very light color. They do not fear stains. The stone is worked with the great know-how of berraldacci which allows to have a "softened travertine": natural and matte appearance, soft to the touch. His work highlights the timeless dimension of his pieces that harmonize with all styles of decoration (usually a cliché phrase but which is true for travertine).
