This art deco coffee table known as the "spider table" was designed by jindrich halabala. One of the most famous czech furniture designers of the 20th century, halabala worked as chief designer for the manufacturing company united arts and crafts (up) in brno between 1930 and 1946. He was an important defender of modernist furniture industrially made in czechoslovakia and had a considerable influence on the interior design of many czech houses of the interwar and post-war period. Furniture attributable to jindrich halabala is in great demand today. His creations are in the permanent collections of institutions such as the olomouc museum of art and the stedelijk museum in amsterdam. Square in shape, the spider table has distinctive curved legs and rounded corners. Curved beech legs and plated top. Waist: height: 65cm. Width: 65cm. Depth: 65cm. Origin: czech. Around the 1930s.
