Description
Storage unit, dresser type, french manufacture, hand carved, mid-19th century. From brittany, scene of life in bas relief. Old labels from the bedel & compagnie storage facility on the back of the unit. Removable upper part composed of 11 small spinning tops and a shelf with the bottom decorated with floral motifs. The central part is composed of a drawer with bronze handle and a cupboard door. Door decorated in bas relief, scene of life in the countryside around 1850, representing a man and a woman. The 4 corners are openwork. A functional period lock allows the unit to be locked with a key. Inside a storage shelf. Lower part offering baluster storage composed of 23 spinning tops. Bottom carved in the mass, leaf motifs. Antique dresser cabinet in solid chestnut. Furniture having been deposited at the famous public storage facility bedel et compagnie, 18 rue saint augustin in paris, a guarantee of high quality for this unique piece. Many details, meticulous work on all parts of this piece of furniture. In the center, the bas-relief sculpture of a scene from life bears witness to another era. Piece in very good condition considering its era. On the top, 2 visible holes, suggesting that a pediment or other finishing element was placed there. Small defects to note; the shelf support is partial, the top has a crack. Healthy and solid set.
