100% handmade with love. Worth the shot, and the spend!

The roundness of this generous fruit, a decorative element frequently found in Mediterranean countries and the Middle East, inspired studio mikael paris. And as the pomegranate also brings good luck, here it is transformed into a delightful glazed terracotta object, entirely handcrafted and hand painted. Available in two sizes, it can act as a candle holder where it can be placed as a colorful note alongside the plates. Iznik ceramics in a few words... Iznik ceramics appeared during the Ottoman Empire at the end of the 15th century in Turkey in the eponymous city. Today, these objects are highly valued on the art market. Covering ceramics appeared in the 16th century at the instigation of the sultans of the empire. Artisans then made tiles to adorn monuments and this ceramic became the symbol of luxury and prestige in European courts. It is very popular with art lovers and can fetch a high value at auction. Manufacturing techniques; Iznik ceramics are made from a siliceous paste that is not very malleable, which makes it difficult to work. A siliceous slip envelops the ceramic to give it the appearance of perfectly white porcelain and the decorations are placed under a shiny colorless glaze. It requires 20 hours of cooking at 900°C and 7 days of cooling to avoid cracking.
