Description
Superb set of 4 important asian armchairs in carved chinese mahogany wood (toona sinensis). Carved with plant and animal motifs: 3 sculpted bats (symbols of good fortune, happiness and longevity), in the center of each file is a scene depicting cranes in a pond lined with bamboo and where water lilies float. In good condition, small traces of use, small losses. Indochina (vietnam) or south china. Circa 1880-1900 it was then the period of japonism (1870-1910) and the colonies, furniture and objects from the far east were then fashionable, they came from china, indochina, or japan, when they are not reinterpreted by european cabinetmakers (viardot, perret & vibert, etc...). Dimensions: height: 93cm seat height: 43cm depth: 50cm width: 67cm.
