Usa 247 armchair designed by folke ohlsson for the Swedish manufacturer dux in the 1960s. These uniquely designed armchairs are characterized by a high level of craftsmanship. Armchair in teak and oak wood. The rattan seat back proves the uniqueness of the chair. Minor scratches and marks, minor stains. ------------------ Born in 1919 and raised in Sweden, Ohlsson moved to the United States in 1953 and immediately created Dux Incorporated as an American iteration of its Swedish namesake, at the time the largest manufacturer of upholstered furniture in the Nordic country. Under the design leadership of Ohlsson, Dux Inc. quickly gained considerable influence in the United States. Dux had particular success introducing the collapsible chair to the American market. Ohlsson patented his iconic design in 1949, and it went on to inspire more than 100 furniture designers and makers (for example, fellow Swede Nordiska Kompaniet and, more contemporary, Ikea). It spent three years at its headquarters in San Francisco before Ohlsson moved the company to Burlingame, California in 1956. Over the years, the company solicited furniture designs from design heavyweights like Bruno Mathsson, Edward J. Wormley and, while simultaneously producing Ohlsson's designs. Own designs. Particularly popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s – and highly sought after today – Ohlsson's armchair and sofa designs are beloved for their graceful blend of traditional details and modernist simplicity. As a result, his work received numerous official recognitions and awards, including Best Design at the Milan Triennale in 1964, as well as the decoration of the Royal Swedish Order of Vasa, awarded by King Gustav VI.
