Wooden orangery box

Wooden orangery box composed of a four-legged base, four faces made of wooden slats assembled in a dovetail and fixed by nuts to four reinforcing battens, each surmounted by a triangular-shaped decorative element, and two black metal handles. The design of orangery containers dates from the time of andré le nôtre when under louis XIV exotic plants were very fashionable and needed to be placed under shelter when the climate was no longer suitable. To do this, the plant was placed directly in the container, designed to provide sufficient drainage and air circulation around the roots, then was stored in greenhouses or orangeries to be protected from bad weather.
