It shows three different coloured highland cattle standing on the far side of a small stream. They each have a pair of magnificent horns and look healthy and alert. In the background the hills rise into the sky, and there is a light cloud in the pale blue sky. The lowlands are green with lush grass and the hues of purple over the hills suggest that there is heather and wildflowers among the bracken. The overall palette is rich and verdant; this is a classic highland cattle scene full of life and the grandeur of nature.
