Heavy ceramic ashtray with a vibrant red/orange glaze, contrasting with the structured black outline that looks like cut stone. Magnificent craftsmanship that gives dazzling color to your table and a talking point. White clay, black/charcoal gray glaze on the outside, bright orange, black and deep yellow glaze in the shape of a four-petalled flower on a mint green/light gray background. The artist jan van erp was a dutch ceramist born in 1914. He set up his ceramic pottery workshop in waalre, the netherlands, just after the second world war in 1946, where he produced cups and saucers and glazed beer mugs in pastel shades with golden details. He supplied very large luxury malls/shops in the netherlands. In the 1960s, he used the orange color containing uranium, which had been developed by ruscha-keramik in germany. These objects became very popular and enjoyed great success. An mcm artist from the middle of the 20th century whose signature style is very easy to recognize. Beautiful decorative object. Ashtray or empty-pocket or simply as a decoration on a book for example height: 5.5cm diameter of the base 9cm diameter of the top 15.5 cm width of the border 2cm.
