Description
An old canvas poster entitled “menton mer monts et merveilles” signed lower left c. Terechkovitch imprimerie mourlot, color printing on vellum edition of the tourism commission slight insolation period: 1962 dimensions 100 X 64 cm ref adequantik 2302078 terechkovitch constantin or kostia (1902-1978), french painter of russian origin. Her parents encouraged kostia's interest in drawing very early on. Collector sergei shchukin will take a look. In 1917, during the russian revolution, kostia decided to leave for paris, which he only reached in 1920 after many adventures and small jobs. Having become “constantin”, he found the russian expatriate community in montparnasse and became friends with other painters of the time, such as chaim soutine, moïse kisling, pinchus kremegne. The writer and art critic serge romoff launched his career in 1921. In 1933, tereshkovitch designed the sets and costumes for the ballets russes show in monte-carlo. He married the same year and his wife, yvette, became his main model. In 1939, he joined the foreign legion then was demobilized in 1940. After the second world war, tereshkovitch traveled, took an interest in all the major sporting competitions, and settled for a while in menton. He was made a knight of the legion of honor in 1951.
