Large old portrait by léonid fridman (1908-1979) (fridman leonid was born in ismail, russia in 1908. He died on january 5, 1979 in paris. He was a french and belgian sculptor, engraver, illustrator and painter of russian origin. His family emigrated to belgium. At the beginning of his career, he worked as a sculptor and then, in 1936, turned to painting. Since 1950, he had been living in paris and his works were exhibited at the salon d'automne and the independent). The portrait depicts his friend, grégoire chiurdoglu, professor of chemistry at the université libre de bruxelles, who helped him during the war. The painting is dated 1942. A small tear on the top left (visible in the photos) as well as a sinking of the canvas, very discreet when the painting is hung on the wall.
