Small dan "passport" mask, carved from wood with a beautiful natural patina, originating from ivory coast. These miniature masks, called dan passports, were traditionally worn by their owners as a personal protective item, often attached to clothing or kept in a pocket. They also served as an item of identification for wearers of larger masks during ritual ceremonies. This mask is distinguished by its heart shape, narrow, horizontally slit eyes, a protruding mouth, and a finely carved nose. These typical features of dan masks reflect their refined and expressive aesthetic. The back of the mask shows signs of wear and a marked patina, attesting to its long use. Note the discreet restoration at the top of the mask, which was carried out with respect for the authenticity of the piece. It also has mounting holes on the sides, indicating that it could be hung or tied. Dimensions: height: 13 cm width: 10 cm condition: good general condition with a discreet restoration at the top, natural patina and visible signs of use.
