Table desk lamp from jumo, model 900. Sometimes called a “saucer”, this lamp is chrome-plated. Its base and deflector are on a ball joint, which allows great adjustment flexibility. Its two-tone black and white lampshade can be rotated 360°. The foot is made of black metal weighted by cast iron on the inside with its original switch and cable, perfectly functional. Everything is lit by a bayonet bulb delivering soft, subdued light. Period: 20th century circa: 1973 dimensions: height of lampshade in vertical position: 72cm height of lampshade and flat pole: 55cm baffle diameter: 21cm baffle height: 7cm base diameter: 18cm height of chrome pole with ball joints: 47cm the jumo company ( contraction the first two letters of the 3 creators yves jujeau and pierre and andré mounique) was created in 1940. It produces lighting inspired by art deco. At the end of the 1970s (around 1977/78), the jumo company was bought by the english lighting company concord to become jumo-conord until 1991. The jumo house became known for its lighting lamps. 'workshop. The goal was to equip french industry with resistant, adjustable and adaptable models for several functions. If there is one qualifier that we can give to these lamps, it is robustness! Nearly sixty years later, these models are often in excellent condition and work very well. The jumo brand also manufactured less industrial and more decorative models. Moreover, certain models are sometimes attributed by mistake to eilleen gray or charlotte perriand... And yet neither of these two emblematic figures of design worked for jumo but we know that charlotte perriand would nevertheless have selected models from the jumo company for the exhibition of the museum of decorative arts “le bazar” in 1949.
