Marine cabinet

Marine toilet (circa 1900) which fitted the cabins of ocean liners or certain officer cabins in commerce. This type of cabinet has been found in luxury Orient Express trains. The principle of this piece of furniture: The upper part hides a zinc tank (accessible by removing the top cover) intended to receive water. The central part opens to reveal a sink and a tap directly supplied by the upper tank. By closing the door, the water from the basin is poured into a bucket to be placed in the lower part. The furniture is in solid walnut. It is in perfect condition after restoration of use and maintenance made necessary by its past conditions of use. (see photos).
