Basa mask

Superb bassa mask from liberia with elegant and modern curves. The sculpture is fine and refined, the volumes are superbly treated. The face is elegantly elongated. The look is piercing, the nose is stretched, as for the mouth forward, it seems to call us. All his senses are in action, it is an awakened object. Note barely visible remains of paintings, white dots, on the edges of the face and lines above the eyes. Superb dark brown patina attesting to the age of the mask. There are two holes in the upper lip where teeth were filed.
